More structural efficiency: Optimal structural efficiency is possible because metal can be placed where it adds strength and omitted where it is not necessary.
Less fabrication: Cost can be reduced by replacing an assembly of components with one single extrusion.
Less machining: Extrusions can be produced to the finished shape required.
Less tool expenditure: The costs of extrusion dies is very low compared with tooling costs for roll forming, casting, forging and moulding.
Less maintenance: Aluminium is a naturally durable metal and surface finishing further enhances durability.
Less weight: Aluminium is one third the weight of steel. After allowing for the difference in properties of the two metals, an aluminium structure can generally be produced at only half the weight of an equivalent steel structure.
More design scope: The extrusion process enables the design of shapes and components that would otherwise not be possible.
